From Blank Hi-Vis Vest to Professional Branded Workwear – Our DTF Printing Process - ProAttire Ltd

From Blank Hi-Vis Vest to Professional Branded Workwear – Our DTF Printing Process

When businesses invest in branded workwear, they want clothing that not only looks professional but also stands up to the demands of everyday use. At ProAttire, we specialise in DTF (Direct to Film) printing, producing vibrant, durable branding on workwear and PPE for businesses across Preston, Chorley, Leyland, Blackpool, Fylde, South Ribble, Lancashire, and customers throughout the UK.

Recently, we completed this custom hi-vis vest for APS (Automated Perimeter Security), and it's a great example of how our DTF printing process transforms a plain safety vest into a professional branded garment.

Whether you're ordering a single personalised vest or hundreds of garments for your workforce, every order receives the same attention to detail.

Step 1 – Starting with a Quality Hi-Vis Vest

Every great branded garment starts with a quality product.

For this project, we used a premium yellow high-visibility vest featuring reflective safety tape, multiple storage pockets, a heavy-duty zip fastening and breathable fabric, making it ideal for construction, engineering, security and industrial environments.

Before any printing begins, we carefully inspect the garment to ensure it's suitable for decoration and determine the ideal placement for the company logo.

Step 2 – Preparing the Artwork

The APS logo was supplied in high resolution and prepared specifically for DTF printing.

Artwork preparation is one of the most important stages of the process. We ensure:

  • Crisp, sharp text
  • Accurate corporate colours
  • Smooth gradients
  • Correct sizing
  • Perfect positioning around reflective tape

Taking time during artwork setup ensures the finished garment looks professional and consistent every time.

Step 3 – Printing the DTF Transfer

Unlike traditional vinyl printing, DTF (Direct to Film) printing allows full-colour logos with exceptional detail.

The logo is first printed onto specialist transfer film using professional DTF inks. A white backing layer is then applied before the transfer is coated with hot-melt adhesive powder and cured in a specialist oven.

This creates a flexible transfer that's ready to be permanently bonded to the garment using heat and pressure.

DTF printing is ideal for:

  • Hi-vis workwear
  • Safety clothing
  • Corporate uniforms
  • Trades uniforms
  • Construction workwear
  • Security uniforms
  • Logistics and warehouse clothing

Step 4 – Heat Press Application

Once the transfer is ready, the vest is carefully positioned on our commercial heat press.

Using the correct combination of temperature, pressure and pressing time ensures the design bonds permanently with the fabric without affecting the garment's comfort or flexibility.

Each logo is individually aligned to ensure it sits perfectly and avoids reflective tape where necessary.

Step 5 – Chest Logo Application

The APS logo was first applied to the left chest.

This creates a clean, professional appearance while leaving space for ID holders and storage pockets.

The result is a smart corporate finish that's immediately recognisable.

Step 6 – Large Rear Branding

After the chest logo, we applied the large rear logo.

A large back print allows staff to be easily identified on busy sites and provides excellent brand visibility from a distance.

This is particularly important for businesses operating on construction sites, industrial estates, commercial premises and public infrastructure projects.

The Finished Result

The completed vest perfectly demonstrates why DTF printing has become one of the most popular decoration methods for branded workwear.

The finished garment offers:

  • Bright, vibrant colours
  • Sharp logo detail
  • Excellent durability
  • A flexible finish that moves with the fabric
  • Outstanding wash resistance
  • Professional branding that lasts

Whether your business requires one garment or a complete workforce uniform, DTF printing delivers exceptional quality every time.

Why Choose DTF Printing?
